Breonna Taylor fact check
One of the great things about the internet age is that when it comes to big national stories, we can get coverage from as many sources as we’re willing to consult. Personally, I’m a big supporter of local newspapers. So today, as people continued reacting to the announcement that the police officers who shot Breonna Taylor would not face charges in her March death, I went to the newspaper in her city.
Today’s link comes from the Louisville Courier-Journal.
Why I think it’s worth sharing: We all know how easy it is for facts to be misconstrued or miscontextualized and for rumors to make the rounds on social media, especially with a story that arouses so much emotion. As the local daily newspaper, whose staff share a community with Taylor’s loved ones, the Courier-Journal has a big stake in covering this story fairly and accurately. (Louisville has an African American weekly newspaper, the Louisville Defender, but I didn’t find a website for it.)
Here’s the story from Tessa Duvall, an investigative reporter at the Courier-Journal.
